Sneaky Dee’s 431 College, 416-603-3090, 416-535-7888
Rating: NNNNN
VIBE Sneaky Dee’s colourful walls have been a landmark at College and Bathurst for 16 years, and not much has really changed in that time. It’s still a grimy rock bar and pseudo-Mexican restaurant, where bands play upstairs most nights, and the occasional indie rock dance party happens.
SOUND & LIGHTS The sound upstairs is better than it used to be but still won’t be winning awards any time soon. Standard stage lighting — no strobes or lasers here. The club is currently focused more on being a live venue, so the DJ booth looks like an afterthought.
VALUE Unlike most of the College strip, Sneaky Dee’s is still quite affordable. Hell, a $3.50 bottle of domestic beer is cheap anywhere.
BATHROOMS As you might expect of a bar sometimes referred to as Sleazy Disease, the graffiti-covered washrooms are rarely pristine.
