Art reflecting literature

Toronto artist Felipe Velasquez has created 10 paintings representing 10 stories written by women – all focus on the struggles of marginalized women – as part of the unique Obaa (woman) Gallery Exhibit at Artscape Youngplace.

Hear the stories and see the paintings Saturday (August 22). Proceeds go toward supplies for workshops where young women can use storytelling and painting to challenge gender inequality and empower themselves. There’s music, too, from DJ Bambii. See Readings.
