A pale echo

What It Feels Like For A Girl at Zsa Zsa (962 Queen West) to December 14. 416-537-3814. Rating: NN Rating: NN

as part of his mandate to link AGYU with the downtown art scene, director Monk has rented Zsa Zsa . Great idea, not so great execution. Rather than being an extension of the agYU exhibition, this is just a mini-me version of the bigger show. Voyce offers pre-stamped postcards that people can draw on and send to a friend. Smyth contributes sketches for her mural, while Liliefeldt’s video highlights the knife-and-hand routine from the larger performance. Clark-Davis’s piece is a forgettable boxing match that talks gender through a bloodied mouth guard.

The downtown space would be better used as another exhibition room for the AGYU show, a place to kick-start the programming rather than simply echoing it.
