no one does crowds better thanStephen Andrews.And then there are the fabulous things he does with paper, creating textures like leather with little more than graphite on parchment.
The snippets of Andrews’s work hanging at Paul Petro date from as far back as 1995 and are no more recent than the E #1 and E #3 portraits — ecstatic faces hanging high in a corner on the gallery wall — from 1999.
These are fabulous pieces, but they don’t form a comprehensive body of work. More Work From “Album” comes across very like an appetizer served up to whet viewers’ appetites for the Likeness touring retrospective currently up at the Art Gallery of Windsor or the new works coming to Paul Petro this November.
