Duncan Campbell’s film clips of 60s Northern Irish youth with a soundtrack of despondent philosophical musings must be saying something about the Troubles, while Nora Schultz’s quote of Sherri Levine’s reworking of Walker Evans’s Depression portrait has a few too many levels of references.
However, I enjoyed French collective Claire Fontaine’s brick wrapped in a Guy Debord book cover sitting on the floor like an abandoned juice box and their wicked 9/11 assemblage, two U.S. coins commemorating the Wright brothers’ flight attached to box-cutter blades.
