Hong Kong’s Warren Leung Chi-wo uses the space between city buildings. His work — seen at the Venice Biennale in 2001 — is stunningly simple. Using a pinhole camera, Leung shoots the sky framed by city buildings. He then cuts out the open space, leaving the outer edges of the buildings as dark borders. This creates oddly shaped pieces that Leung uses like building blocks to create collages that burst forth from the walls at Lee Ka-Sing Gallery.

At Gallery 44, he displays shots of Toronto buildings and skies taken in the same way. This time, rather than cutting the pictures out, his partner, Sara Chi-hang Wong, has baked a cookie to mimic the negative space. The cookies and the art look delicious.
