Wid Ingelevics also participates in a two-man collaboration with Patrick Altman at Gallery 44, called Codicologie(s), that is focused on the art museum archive. Large-scale photographs document the rows of tan folders that contain collection information, each with a column of lettered or numbered and colour-coded tags along its thin spine — much like the folders you see in a doctor’s office.

There is a simple graphic beauty in the sea of colour, one you might take notice of next time you go in for your annual physical.

Altman, an artist and head photographer at the Musée du Québec, has blown up positive transparencies of painters’ drop sheets used during painting in the museum. The sheets, stained with various colours, are each coded with a paint chip.

The work is attentive to the random beauty of the world.
