Craft dinner

Erin Tracy/Michele Perras at Sarah Lowry Studio (401 Richmond West) to April 27. 416-706-9567. Rating: NNN

Up at Sarah Lowry studio on the second floor, two material art and design students craft beautiful and delicate work that contrasts with the blustering sculptures downstairs. Erin Tracy’s series of necklaces and rings reflect Japanese ideals of form and thought, in particular a ring that can be inserted into the side of a small cup to form the handle. Michele Perras’s bowls look fragile, with wafer-thin stainless steel balancing on a nest of dark slate.

Go West, in just its second outing, is the fresh-faced juried exhibition where fresh-faced students from the Ontario College of Art and Design invade commercial galleries for the weekend. There’s a lot of great stuff to see, and the students are so damned nice. Here are some stand-outs.
