Love in 3-D

Love in 3-Dcorinne carlson on The Balcony (183 Augusta) to August 31. 416-205-9665. Rating: NNN

take your 3-d specs to check out Corinne Carlson’s latest public piece, a pair of off-register black, red and cyan eyes gazing back from the second-storey domestic Balcony on Augusta that moonlights as an Art Metropole pilot site. This is The Look Of Love (King Kong Sees Fay Wray For The First Time), an ode to the classic monster movie that suckers the truly committed viewer (the one in the cardboard specs) into providing a performance element for this inspired installation in the bowels of Kensington Market.

Carlson says her mandate is to provide poetic relief from the sheer architectural torture that is Toronto, and in this case she certainly succeeds.

The only problem is, the 3-D visionaries aren’t there all the time.
