Nadine Norman is the available Woman. And she wants to know if you’re available, too.If you are, you can submit an online application for a chance to meet the artist. Then an unbiased focus group will pick the lucky persons who get to meet the Available Woman in person or via webcast.
This Web project, which began as part of a piece for her recent show at the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, plays with human interactions, perceptions of women and the silliness in our society, particularly vis-à-vis reality shows that “create relationships.”
Would you want to meet the Available Woman? According to video vignettes on the site, she cleans laundry barefoot in a virginal dress, but when it comes to love she dons a black dress and sits at the bar in all her availability.
But just in case you fall too hard for the fantasy, there’s a small icon on the Web site that lets you push a button to be reminded of what the Available Woman is not: she’s not a witch, tease, broad, slut or blond. She’s not a whore. She’s not a princess. thmoas@sympatico.ca
