ecstatic, sly, confrontational and goofy, there’s a lot going on in Paul P.’s pulsating hot-pink portraits, and not all of it wants to be taken too seriously. This co-founder of West Wing Art Space has been showing like crazy since graduating from York last year, chalking up group shows at SPIN, Mercer Union and Art Metropole as well as solo outings at West Wing, Akau, Come as You Are and the Rivoli.
He’s picked up some A-list collectors along the way, including art dealer Paul Petro, which is not surprising, given the overlap of names and the fact that P.’s aesthetic recalls Sadko Hadzihasanovic, whom Petro represents.
It’s easy to see why. P.’s irreverent art is very desirable.
