Over at SOF, photography students grace the walls with some solid work. Kotama Bouabane takes pictures of chalkboards using a flat documentary style to highlight the text as well as the texture left by the felt erasers. Heather Schibli creates clouds out of images of garbage and stitches rain with thread, while Crystal Liu photographs the subtle reflections of cloudy skies, letting strips of land cling desperately to the very bottom of the frame.
Go West, in just its second outing, is the fresh-faced juried exhibition where fresh-faced students from the Ontario College of Art and Design invade commercial galleries for the weekend. There’s a lot of great stuff to see, and the students are so damned nice. Here are some stand-outs.
