Art imagery in Carpets Of Las Vegas.
This photographic series is exactly what its title says, a study of the dazzlingly abstract carpets that grace the floors of Las Vegas hotel lobbies and casinos. Their garish patterns help define each pleasure palace’s unique look and feel, but they also serve a more prosaic purpose: to look great while hiding dirt and spills.
Wilson’s inspired large-format prints edit out all references to the surrounding casino environment. These are pure, unadulterated rings, florals, grids and other flights of fantasy, but their graininess reflects their origins as surreptitious shots taken with a tourist-style flash camera.
