The beauty of Black History Month is that it gives us the chance to explore hidden histories, something that preoccupies John Cooper. Though he has a career as a corporate communications specialist, he’s also written extensively on civil rights in Canada, including his book for young readers Season Of Rage: Hugh Burnett And The Struggle For Civil Rights (Tundra, $14.99). He discusses its themes – how African-Canadian citizens in Dresden, Ontario, challenged the racist attitudes of the 1950s – at North York Central Library on Wednesday (February 18). See Readings.
