In Deep Diversity: Overcoming Us Vs. Them ($22.95, Between the Lines), Shakil Choudhury explores what it is within us that makes us resist rather than welcome diversity. He says we’ll never change until we understand how the mind works and he talks to everyone from neuroscientists to mindfulness practitioners to get answers. His mission: to get us to break the “prejudice habit.” He presents these ideas at the Reference Library on Friday (January 29). See Readings.
