IFOA honours 40 years of the Toronto Book Awards

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Toronto Book Awards, a special IFOA event on Sunday (November 1) honours past winners and those who helped create the award.

Former mayor John Sewell, who presented the proposal to city council in 1974 to establish the prize – see his book How We Changed Toronto: The Inside Story Of Twelve Creative, Tumultuous Years In Civic Life, 1969-1980 ($29.95, Lorimer), moderates a panel with winners Austin Clarke (2009), Charlotte Gray (2014), Helen Humphreys (1998), Rabindranath Maharaj (2011), Rosemary Sullivan (1996), Guy Vanderhaeghe (1990) and Richard B.
