Hogtown horror

Luminato likes to think of itself as the Olympics of arts events, bringing together the best work from all over the world. But the fest’s local literary event is still one of the most fascinating on offer.

It’s called Gothic Toronto: Writing The City Macabre. Six T.O. writers – Andrew Pyper, Ann-Marie MacDonald, Cherie Dimaline, Michelle Wan, Nalo Hopkinson and Tasleem Thawar – were asked to pen stories that give the city a creepy cast. They read from these tales, which go on sale (but only at the event) as a chapbook with an introduction by Margaret Atwood. Wednesday (June 10), 7:30 pm, St. George the Martyr Church (197 John).
