National Book Award winner Andrew Solomon's (The Noonday Demon) Far From The Tree: Parents, Children And The Search For Identity ($39.99, Scribner) mines hundred's of interviews to discover what it means to parent a child who's different. This diversity encompasses deafness, dwarfism, Down syndrome, severe disabilities, transgendered kids and more. In most cases Solomon learns that parents find supportive communities among others similarly affected and love transcends intolerance. He discusses the book with the CBC's Michael Enright Tuesday (November 20) at the Toronto Reference Library. See Readings.
