Editor Penn Kemp gave her collection of stories honouring Jack Layton’s commitment to the arts a perfect title. Jack Layton: Art In Action ($24.95, Fourfront/Quattro) features visual portraits of the late federal NDP leader and tender anecdotes recalling his arts activism. Contributors include both well-known artists – Robert Priest, Sylvia Fraser, Lorraine Segato – and everyday people who appreciated Layton’s understanding of how the arts build community.
