Who: GUILD (Jonah Humphrey, Andrea Ling, Spencer Rand, Patrick Svilans and Johnathan Wong)
Where: 31 Lombard
Why: This interactive installation by a group of Toronto artist/designers, most of whom met at U of Waterloo’s faculty of architecture, takes its name from a cloud formation. Lanterns and light projections illuminate a series of structures that form a 20-foot-square organza and mylar canopy whose undulations are caused by the breeze and the air currents generated by visitors’ movements. Members of GUILD, who did the Through The Gorilla Glass project on City Hall’s green roof at last year’s Nuit Blanche, are into everything from wearable sculpture and machines to photography and interactive design.
