Nuit Blanche’s emphasis this year on non-visual art could find no better example than Macia’s sound installation in the atrium of the Liberty Building that samples over 100 different recordings of crying. Ranging from the shrieks of newborn infants to Australian Aboriginal funeral wails, this rich textural soundscape of human cries is woven together with music by composer Michael Nyman.
