Filmed in 1984 at the height of their career, this live concert DVD is hindered by the technology of the day: the shots are blurry and stationary, and the post-production is very poor. Some songs feel as though they were filmed from the bleachers with an old-school camcorder. The crowd of thousands appears to be ecstatic, but you can’t really get a sharp image. Boy George is a little off his game, his radio-friendly vocals often reduced to a nasal whine. This concert was recorded just as Colour By Numbers hit number one all over the world, and the fey new-wave lads perform an occasionally monotonous set with little stage banter to break it up. The band look as though they’ve been touring for months and the novelty is wearing thin. A brief featurette is worth watching for the photo collage of Boy George’s fashions through the ages and bits of intriguing biography. It’s worth buying if you’re a nostalgic fan or collector, but otherwise you’d be better served by an episode of Behind The Music.
