If you enjoy listening to books over reading them, you’re in for a treat as audiobooks are now available to purchase on Spotify Canada starting today.

Spotify is allowing users to purchase and listen to a catalog of more than 300,000 audiobook titles, in both English and French across the country.

Audio selections include top books in the world across various genres, from Margaret Atwood to Emily St. John Mandel.

“We’ve always believed that the potential for audio creators is limitless. This audiobooks experience is just the beginning of our journey – we’ll continue expanding our catalog and developing new ways for listeners to discover and engage with audiobooks,” Spotify Canada said in a news release on Tuesday.

Canadians can find audiobooks on Spotify as a section in their library, in search, and on their homepage, alongside music and podcasts.

Audiobooks will appear with a lock icon on the play button until they are purchased to listen. Books are available for a one-time purchase on Spotify’s website, which will then unlock on the app and appear in the library section.

Similar to music and podcasts, audiobooks can be downloaded for offline listening, and the automatic bookmarking feature saves listening time so users can easily pick up where they left off.

Users can also control audiobook speed and share their opinion to create aggregated book ratings for other listeners.
