Metronome takes absurdity to an extreme. Filmmaker Daniel Cockburn obsessively pounds his chest and speaks in an intentional monotone, trying to locate the rhythmic beat of his life. We never get to the bottom of the narrator’s fixation on rhythm — in film and his daily life — but Cockburn’s a talented director with a sharp technique and a clever pomo sensibility that’s always engaging.
