Have you ever wondered about the story behind our city? Why is Queen West such a hot spot? What about Allan Gardens? What happened in different areas of the city to shape the unique metropolitan area we live, work and play in? Well, a new exhibit by Myseum Toronto is exploring the rich history of different Toronto neighbourhoods!
Ten of Toronto explores ten different neighbourhoods and delves into different elements that have shaped the city and its culture, including geography, economy, immigration, finance, urban development, culture, inequality, and social values.
“In Ten of Toronto, we reflect on our shared histories by looking at the forces that have shaped the city’s neighbourhoods,” reads a Myseum release.
“By understanding Toronto’s diverse past we can understand a little bit more about the city we live in,” organizers said.
“We invite you to discover your own path through the stories and histories we’ve unearthed for this exhibit, and lend your voice – what do neighborhoods mean to you?”
Neighbourhoods explored through the exhibit include Little Manila, Danforth, Baby Point, and Queen West.
Ten of Toronto is now open. The exhibit is free to attend and is located at the Toronto Myseum at 401 Richmond Street East. You can check it out Wednesday to Saturday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. until April 30, 2023.
