“This is my last show ever,” warned Darren Frost last Saturday at Clinton’s at the launch of Gord Disley’s comedy CD, Shots Fired.

During Frost’s typically angry but solid set, an alarm was set off by someone downstairs at a cyber cafe. Frost’s response?

“I could be at home biting my arm off and fucking my ass with it,” he yelled at us. “That would be more fun than this.”Uh, yeah. But please don’t invite us, OK?

Trust Canadia dell’Arte Theatre to pull original music into a show in amazing ways. The theatre’s new series, Sonic Lab 3, features Duncan MacDonald and Rachael Wadham’s 20 Digits, based on scored Braille translations. Also on the bill is Continuo, by Sam Allison and Chris Cummings, which combines a jazz trio, synth drones and Appalachian mountain tunes, and company member Dennis Frey’s Space Man 2459, an a cappella space opera for three voices (Joel Benson, Michael Chipman and Frey). Tonight (Thursday, January 11) to Sunday (January 14). 186 Munro. 465-7393.Give Theatre Passe Muraille’s resident designer Steve Lucas red curtains and a chandelier and he starts hearing voices. Their message? After you reconfigure the mainspace and add a proscenium stage to the decor, call the space the Opera House.

It’s the site tomorrow (Friday, January 12) of a Passe Muraille funder, An Evening At The Opera House, hosted by Diane Flacks. The evening features drinks and nibblies, songs by Mary Lou Fallis and a performance of the theatre’s current production, Jump. 16 Ryerson. 504-7529.
