Think it’s too cold for outdoor performance art? You haven’t met bluemouth inc., the experimental troupe known for defying all expectations. Death By Water is the aptly named second part of their Something About A River trilogy, which uses Toronto’s underground Garrison Creek as a metaphor for currents running beneath our society.

Last summer the quartet (Stephen O’Connell, Sabrina Reeves, Lucy Simic and Richard Windeyer) presented The Fire Sermon, a powerful look at violence and repressed sexual memories set in the Metro XXX porn theatre. This spring they’re mounting What The Thunder Said. And next fall, they’re presenting the entire series, which geographically stretches from the beginning of the river to the end.

As for the present show, how’s this for a hook? After meeting at Queen West’s Bates & Dodds funeral home, groups of six to 10 audience members journey by rickshaw to a plexiglass shed in Trinity Bellwoods Park. And don’t fear death by frostbite. The shed’s heated.
