Director Lucy Eveleigh and her cast give a clever twist to the popular fairy tale, with Hansel (Gene Abella), Gretel (Michelle Thibodeau) and their parents (Faisal Butt and Genevieve Trottier) all addicted to electronic devices.

When the kids are transported into a game similar to those they play online, they lose the use of their cellphones and pads and have to use their brains and relationship to get to the gingerbread house. Lots of audience participation here, and the young audience love being part of the action.

The introduction’s too long and pacing sometimes slow, but the computer and social media references (the characters include Hashtag Harry and Firefox) are cleverly worked into the action.
