Given the title, it’s easy to mistake affable Aussie comedian Jon Bennett’s solo show for crass prop comedy, but in fact his dick-obsessed humour goes much deeper.
An engaging storyteller, he explains with the aid of slides how a funny Facebook post five years ago morphed into a life-consuming blog/book/theatre project in which he uses forced-perspective photography to make various objects – everything from a banana to ancient Incan ruins – appear to be his phallus.
Taking the form of an explainer (“how is this a thing?”) and “greatest hits” run down, Bennett offers hilarious, revealing and even harrowing stories about his favourite selections. The pile of long, cylindrical props scattered on stage are actually not part of the show afterward, Bennett invites the audience to snap their own pics with the inspirational line, “Anything can be a cock, as long as you believe.”
