It wouldn’t be the Fringe without an appearance by the tall, lanky Brit whose gift for performing his own poetry is unparalleled. Jem Rolls: TEN STARTS AND AN END (from July 5 at the George Ignatieff) promises more clever wordplay, including the longest tongue-twister in Canadian history. (How’s that for a great marketing hook?) But he’s also written The First Canadian President Of The United States (from July 5 at St. Vladimir’s), a satire about a runner (played by Priscilla Yakielashek) whose ambitions extend way beyond 24 Sussex Drive. Seems doing the annual Fringe circuit has taught him a thing or two about North American politics.
