Stand-up gigs scheduled for the end of September are being moved to Scotiabank Arena and Winter Garden Theatre
Comedy festival JFL42 is moving all of this year’s performances set to take place at venues on Canadian National Exhibition Place grounds in the wake of the ongoing labour dispute at the city-run district.
Shows scheduled to take place in late September at the Coca-Cola Coliseum and Queen Elizabeth Theatre have been relocated to the Scotiabank Arena and Winter Garden Theatre, respectively.
More than 400 members of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 58 have been locked out since July 20. The unionized stagehands provide technical and staging expertise for venues at Exhibition Place. The CNE opened August 17 as union members picketed outside the CNE and at City Hall demanding the board return to the bargaining table.
Ticketmaster will also contact ticket holders for Joe Rogan’s September 29 show regarding their new seat locations at the Scotiabank Arena. All tickets originally purchased for shows at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre will be honoured at the Winter Garden Theatre.
JFL42 runs from September 20 to 29. This year’s lineup includes headlining stand-up sets by Seth Myers, Hannibal Buress, Wanda Sykes, Reggie Watts and Ken Jeong, among others.
