RED

Rating: NNNNN

The comedian known simply as Red has lived in T.O. for a year now. How has it been? “In Montreal people like to party, and in Toronto they like to organize the party,” says Red coyly. Seems like she’s caught on. First she put together Red’s Comedy Competition for eight weeks during the summer, and now she’s throwing herself a one-year anniversary party with local headliners like Russell Peters, Roy Daye and Miller Crosby. Never mind that the show’s up against that other comedy gala (see cover story, page 46). Red says it’s just a coincidence. Besides, who can compete with the comic whose hosting duties always include an audience dance competition? “It loosens up the audience, and the prizes usually go to the people who go wild. We’re not looking for great dancing, just those who let loose and enjoy themselves.” Kinda like Red herself. See Comedy Gala With Red listing, this page, for details. GLENN SUMI
