Actor/writer Sasky Louison’s Dario Et La Diablesse is a spirited musical take on a traditional myth from St. Lucia. Hapless humans try to trick the Devil at his own game, giving up their souls while trying to keep those they love safe.

Performances from the large cast are uneven and some of the finer vocals drowned out by music director Darryll Joseph-Dennie’s tight 5-piece band playing live. But these flaws could be easily fixed with better miking and stage blocking.

Solid structure, standout performances from Edward Robinson as the Devil, and Louison and Tarick Glancy as a bickering yet loving creole couple, as well as some genuinely witty writing, make up for the length (90 minutes!) and most of the missteps.
