In this complex, disconcerting work of political theatre, four characters of Asian descent are held in an alternate world and forced to compete in an absurd reality show in order to regain freedom to integrate back into Western society.

The play is performed in Cantonese, Mandarin and English with subtitles projected onto an upstage screen. Silk Bath takes a harsh look at the stereotypes imposed on Asian culture, with each character representing a different response to its effects. The strong acting collective includes performers Bessie Cheng, Dorcas Chiu, En Lai Mah and Amanda Zhou.

Despite some technical difficulties and a script that could use refining to further develop the characters, this is a memorable and impactful dramatic piece.
