This year’s Fringe offers a record 20 site-specific shows, featuring works that require a particular venue to have their full impact. If you haven’t caught them before, be sure to see Morro And Jasp: Go Bake Yourself, in which the clowns create kitchen mayhem (from July 3 at 918 Bathurst).
But you don’t have to wander all over town to get the non-black-box experience.
Six AlleyPlays run in the Visual Fringe location at the Fringe Club’s south end, most repeating in a two-hour loop of shows that run from 10 minutes to an hour.
Look for Shakespeare, M.D., in which you can have your ailments cured by a dose of the Bard, or The AV Side Show, complete with bearded ladies and conjoined twins. Adam is a physical theatre piece examining woman’s existence in a man’s world.
And if you like to correspond in the old-fashioned way, La Lettre/The Letter is a bilingual show in which improv artists use the audience’s letters to suggest a short play. Stationery will be provided.
From July 3 at Honest Ed’s (581 Bloor).
