Few people championed the cause of women’s involvement in Canadian theatre more than playwright, director and arts supporter Svetlana Zylin, who passed away last July. Between her involvement in the Vancouver’s Women’s Theatre Cooperative in the 70s and her final job as arts officer at the Manitoba Arts Council, Zylin worked across the country, including stints at Theatre Passe Muraille and the Theatre Centre. A memorial and celebration of Zylin’s life is set for Monday (October 7), 7:30 pm, at Passe Muraille (16 Ryerson). 416-504-7529.
