menacing mike

On October 16, the day the politically barbed Bye Mike! cabaret opened at the Cameron, Mike Harris gave the show extra press by announcing he was stepping down. Coincidence? We don’t think so. Catching the show later in the week, we saw some wicked skewering of the premier, who leaves a legacy that unfortunately won’t disappear when he does.

The keenest blade was wielded by Karen Hines’s sweet-smiling, ingenuously nasty Pochsy — now vampiric in black gown and long tresses, à la Elvira, Mistress of the Dark — who adopts a foster child whose name she can neither remember nor pronounce. Savagely funny.
