Tent talks

True to its indie roots, the Fringe has always been big on professional development. This year’s theme – “Theatre is dead. Long live theatre!” – is explored through various panels and talks at the Fringe Club behind Honest Ed’s. Ever wonder how to get commercial sponsorship for your play? Or how to get a grant? And, gee, how do you get to meet the city’s key artistic directors, programmers and reviewers? There’s a Tent Talk for all those things on July 7, 8 and 13 respectively. On July 12, NOW’s Glenn Sumi talks to this year’s New Play Contest winner, Kat Sandler (see interview, page 11), about how to make accessible theatre. And the series ends on an upbeat note July 15 with a presentation by 100 young theatre entrepreneurs looking at the future of the art form.
