From Fireweeds and The Former Republic Of Poetry to Sheroes, Joy and The Daughters Of Sheherzad — even Outrageous, in its own way — female characters are kicking butt all over T.O. Sharing the power with bittergirls this week is this trio of productions.THE DOLL HOUSE — DVxT (Coyote Ugly) piles on the talent in John Murrell’s new version of Henrik Ibsen’s groundbreaker about the liberation of the meek housewife Nora. Vikki Anderson directs Shaw regulars Fiona Byrne and Ben Carlson as the less-than-happy couple. Previews November 14, opens November 16 at Canadian Stage Upstairs.

THE VIC — Several strong, troubled females get involved in the search for a missing woman. Cahoots Theatre Projects and Theatre Passe Muraille collaborate on this emotionally pitched tale by Leanna Brodie. David Oiye leads an all-female, high-energy cast, including Marjorie Chan, Barbara Gordon, Moynan King, Sharon Mareeka Lewis and Anna Pappas. Previews November 14, opens November 16 at Passe Muraille.

THE PAPERBAG PRINCESS AND OTHER STORIES — In Robert Munsch’s fave tale, a princess rescues her boyfriend from a dragon’s clutches and discovers that he’s not such a royal catch after all. Montreal’s Geordie Theatre tours the show to Young People’s Theatre.
