Wake us up

DON’T WAKE ME by Brendan Gall, Chris Hanratty, Kate Hewlett, Mike McPhaden and Christopher Stanton, directed by Hanratty (UnSpun). Jan 10 at 5 pm, Jan 11 at 7 pm, Jan 12 at 5:15 pm, Jan 13 at 9 pm. Rating: NN

That title becomes an ironic challenge by the halfway mark of this vague, meandering show about a blind man (Christopher Stanton) whose dreams hold some sort of key to his various forms of lost sight. The script is overwritten and unfocused – no surprise for something penned by so many people. There’s a touch of noir here, a bit of surrealism there, but director Chris Hanratty fails to weave it all into anything unified or compelling. The forgettable set, which is made to resemble a spider web, creates no tension either.
