A local gallery is looking to give back with every sale of limited edition art prints this month.

Toronto artist Peppy Colours has created the ”Famous Soup” art prints series, which is exclusively sold by The Local Gallery in Little Italy. Throughout February, all profits made from each sale of the art prints will be donated to Food Banks Canada.

Colours’ prints are inspired by iconic soup art and beloved cartoon characters, reimagining everyone’s favourite characters and their favourite foods. There are eight soup prints available in three sizes, and each edition has 25 prints for purchase, and they’re only available while supplies last.

The gallery said donating to Food Banks Canada seemed fitting.

“When people think of donating to food banks, canned food items are often the first thing that comes to mind. So, for us, this has a symbolic meaning. Buy (meal) art, provide a meal,” Gallery Director Pepe Bratanov said in an email statement to Now Toronto.

“Truth be told, receiving monetary donations is much more helpful for Food Banks than cans of soup. They have the ability to purchase items in bulk and get more than an individual could,” Bratanov added.

The Local Gallery opened in Oct. 2021 and represents local artists from the Greater Toronto Area. They display a blend of pop and street art with an exuberant feel.

The Famous Soup’s February campaign is the first of its kind, and they hope to continue hosting similar initiatives in the future.

“Local is at the core of our brand, so being able to help local communities is a great way for us to give back,” Bratanov said.
