Music and the Shadow People

June 8, 2023 @ 8:00 pm10:00 pm

Music and the Shadow People is an expanded live radio play performance for musicians, actors, and multi-channel sound design.  Originally a tone poem written and self published by William Parker in 1995, the story was later adapted into a radio play by Andrew O’Connor for KunstRadio on Austrian public broadcaster ORF. William and Andrew have now further adapted this work into a live performance styled in German tradition of horspiel or live radio/sound play featuring original music composed and performed by William Parker and immersive multi-channel sound design by Andrew O’Connor.

The story takes place in a world that is “for the most part ruled, dominated, and being destroyed by HE”, a world built on lies, a world “not in tune with the reality of the universe”.  It centers around two main characters Johnson Wordless a conscripted soldier in HIS Army and Stockyman a revolutionary figure trying to show people the path to the “Tone World”.   We are rehearsing in the lead up to some very exciting performances in Montreal, New York and Hamilton, and are offering sneak peak of this live radio play performance written by William Parker to a limited audience on our final day of rehearsals.
