Sometimes erroneously lumped in with the electroclash crowd, Adult. are more closely connected to the primitive electro-bleat of the late-70s new wave scene. On Anxiety Always, the Detroit duo of Nicola Kuperus and Adam Lee Miller continue to ignore all the exciting techno innovations happening around them and maintain the rigid programmed beats and coldly robotic singing from the template set by the Normal and the Flying Lizards some 25 years earlier. Lyrically speaking, “glue your eyelids together” is about as clever and provocative as it gets. Ho hum.
