by Bryce Hodgson and Charlie Kerr (Blood Pact Theatre/Storefront Theatre). Slacker-comedy turned suicide-mystery that finds itself in a booze- and grief- fuelled magic realism debate on love, life and after-death. Previews from Feb 24, opens Mar 1 and runs to Mar 18, Tue-Sat 8 pm, Sun 2 pm. $30-$50, preview $20.
This dark comedy from Vancouver-NYC writing duo Bryce Hodgson and Charlie (Kill Your Parents In Viking, Alberta) follows siblings Leah (Libby Osler) and Hogan (Kerr), who share an apartment while trying to emotionally recuperate from the suicide of their friend Gibby (Anthony Shim), who still appears to Hogan in hallucinations. Their fazed-out couch-and-sweatpants existence is disturbed when Jaggy (Gabe Grey), a well-meaning police officer, tries to date Leah. Also directing, Hodgson offers a fast-paced magical realism that sometimes feels like panels from a graphic novel brought to life.
