ANDREW W.K.

ANDREW
W.K. I Get Wet (Island) Rating:
NN Rating: NN

The easiest option is to dismiss the frat-boy glam rock of Andrew W.K. as a joke. How else are you supposed to respond to a longhair from Tampa who wears tight white jeans and shouts non-stop through his debut record about partying, girls, partying, sex and, er, partying? Dave Grohl’s choice as the saviour of rock and roll is limited to two-chord, one-line anthems that make Kim Mitchell’s I Am A Wild Party read like poetry. He compensates for the complete lack of songs with blisteringly loud production that’s about as subtle as a baseball bat to the back of the head. As stoopid as it sounds, and only half as funny.
