Arturo Vega: Nothing is true, everything is permitted. Installation. Nov 19-21, reception 7-10 pm Nov 19. Nov 19-21, 11am -5pm, 2015
Bain’s and Moffatt’s installation offers a voyeuristic raw glimpse into the life of Arturo Vega. Vega is renowned for his friendship with and devotion to the Ramones and his design of every aspect of the Ramones shows and aesthetic. He lived in the East Village for four decades before his death in 2014.Yet his life is poorly documented and often minimized in the history of East Village punk. In the spirit of Vegas work the installation includes DIY work, queer ponderings, music, as well as text art. It also includes original photos, audio, and video of Vega
Opening night includes live acoustic punk by Crackpuppy at 9pm and Jinx spinning tunes throughout the evening. Artwork and small takeaways will be for sale.
