Ashley MacIsaac

Bad-boy fiddler Ashley MacIsaac was in full roar when we talked to him about his major record deal (page 44 of the issue). The Cape Breton-bred violinist, who was fusing Celtic sensibilities with then-emerging grunge-techno, has mellowed since those wild whirling dervish days, moving back to more traditional Celtic sounds in recent releases. But he’s in rockin’ form on his latest CD, 2011’s Crossover. He’ll probably offer a bit of both when he plays Hugh’s Room Sunday (December 9). See listings.
