Bedouin Soundclash

Bedouin Soundclash were wise to showcase that song from the Zellers commercial right up front. Even you know the one, hipster. When The Night Feels My Song is an instantly recognizable and painfully catchy pop-reggae tune that’s stealthily reaching near-ubiquity. The remainder of the record is a run of clean reggae rhythms mixed with pop and punk hooks. Though the band’s from that other Kingston a couple of hours east of here, Sounding A Mosaic is lent some cred by its producer, punk legend Darryl Jenifer, formerly of Bad Brains, and by a cameo by reggae legend Vernon Maytone on his tune Money Worries. There’s nothing too revolutionary on offer, but provided you’re not a purist, it’s a respectable debut, and college students will love it.
