I can’t say that I was holding my breath for a greatest hits set from Canuck punk-pop princess Bif Naked, but I’m sure plenty of pierced, black-eyeliner teenybopper tarts will snap up this decent compilation of tunes from her decade-long career. A two-CD/DVD set of material that covers all the big hits, from 1994’s I Bificus all the way to two new irritatingly catchy songs, Essentially Naked is definitely good value for the cash, and you can see Naked’s progression from so-so semi-ska pop (the No Doubt-ish Daddy’s Getting Married and Moment Of Weakness) to glossy mainstream pseudo-punk. The three spoken-word political poems are a bit embarrassing.
