BON JOVI

Rating: NNN

While many of us probably have fond memories of early Bon Jovi arena rock anthems like Livin’ On A Prayer and Blaze Of Glory, it’s remarkable that Jon and band have been slowly chugging along for the last 20 years since they released their mega-album Slippery When Wet.

Not surprisingly, things have changed for the boys, er, men, who on their latest continue further down the murky paths of adult contemporary bliss. Though that usually spells trouble, Bon Jovi still have a serious knack for giving their fans exactly what they want: blue-collar soft rockers about hometown pride, love and havin’ a good time, like I Love This Town.

The band occasionally makes terrible decisions, like the duet with new country clowns Big & Rich on We Got It Going On, a disastrous attempt at alpha male party bravado, but overall, as safe as Highway might be, there’s no way long-time fans won’t buy it.
